The Beatles' innovative fashions, hairstyles and sound reach South America. Los Shakers from Uruguay was also formed by teenagers who were influenced by the Beatles. The band was formed by teenagers who were also professional musicians, and based in neighboring Argentina, it enjoyed overwhelming popularity. Most of the band's repertoire consisted of their own compositions, which were full of Beatles-like essence and of extremely high quality. Although they did not make it to the U.S. due to their inability to speak English, the "Beatles of Uruguay," as they were called, are best enjoyed for their Beatlesque numbers.
