A memorable debut album that includes the title track, which was a #2 hit in the UK! This disc, "Matthew and Son", was released in March 1967. It is a memorable debut album containing both sides of the first two singles, and reached #7 in the UK charts. The orchestral pop taste symbolized by "Matthew and Son" dominates the entire album, which is quite a far cry from the image of the naive, self-made singer of the 1970s. Still, it should be noted that there were no small number of songs that were a testament to his excellent songwriting, such as "Here Comes My Baby," which was even better than the hit Tremeloes' version.
