Description:

The definitive masterpiece of Telemann The birth of Telemann's definitive masterpiece! Isabelle Faust and the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, known as the "Berlin Philharmonic of the Ancient Music World," present the supreme Telemann. The program, which includes a violin concerto and a work in which the violin plays a central role, is a most sumptuous sound! Violinist Isabelle Faust can now be called the Queen of Violins, and no one would disagree. However, her personality is extremely frank and her behavior is very natural. I would like to add that everyone who comes in contact with her is charmed by her. The Berlin Academy of Ancient Music (AKAMUS), founded in 1982, is one of the world's leading baroque chamber orchestras, and Faust and AKAMUS also collaborated on J.S. Bach's concerto cycle (recorded in 2017) and the Brandenburg Concerto (recorded in 2021). The two musicians surprised the world with their improvisation and pleasantly fast performance. With such a face-off with Telemann, this is a no-brainer! The great baroque master Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). Telemann is one of the pioneers of the concerto genre, with some 125 concertos to his credit. He explores the art of the violin with boldness, humor, and emotion, while also displaying his natural ability to imitate form and lyricism.During his long creative career as a student in Leipzig, court music director in Zollau and Eisenach, and finally city music director of Frankfurt and Hamburg, Telemann explored various musical genres, styles, and performance situations and skillfully integrated them in many works. This recording contains a selection of pieces with all of Telemann's charms, including flamboyant technique, variety, and humor, and is one of the best that can be hoped for by the best of the best.
