Description:

A pop-oriented sweet R&B compilation featuring charting songs from 1965 to 1967! This compilation features 26 pop-oriented sweet R&B songs from the early days of the Delphonics, Intruders, Peaches & Herb, Manhattans, O'Jays, and other famous groups that would become active in the 70's and beyond, as well as from groups that were only active for a short time but left behind memorable songs. This is the very origin of Sweet Soul! The Delfonics' arrival on the scene in 1968, with the release of their classic "La-La-Means I Love You" (#4/R&B: #2) from the upstart Philly Groove, marked the beginning of a new era not only for R&B, but also for the U.S. music scene. The Delfonics' arrival on the scene marked the beginning of a new era not only for R&B but also for the U.S. music scene (and personally, it was the song of a lifetime). They were written by songwriter, producer, and arranger Tom Bell. The Intruders, who already had a hit on their hands, followed with "Cowboys To Girls" (No. 6/R&B No. 1) that year. The staff that worked on it was Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff.Their rise to prominence led to the Philadelphia Soul (Philly Soul) movement, but it was the Stylistics, also from Philadelphia, who emerged from the midst of this movement in the 1970s. The Stylistics, from Philadelphia, emerged in the 1970s with a style that specialized in sophisticated, smooth, and sweet charms, making full use of falsetto voices, mainly on ballads, which became a major trend. The First Silky And Sweet Soul Group', but of course, there were many R&B artists and songs with sweet charm (different from the so-called 'doo-wop' style until the early 1960s). (again, different from the so-called 'doo wop' style until the early 1960s). Based on my personal experience of listening to such music, I have selected songs from 1965 to 1967, before the Delfonics' breakthrough, as I find them particularly appealing. The songs are still unpolished and simple, sometimes with a hint of sludge, and although they are not ballads, the sweetness that can be felt throughout the songs, including the sound, is irresistible. Needless to say, there are many more songs, but please enjoy this album as an example of the charm of R&B unique to this period♪〜Excerpt from the commentary Commentary: Toru Ueshiba
