This latest album is a further development of "The Sound of Listening," which was the first to integrate the full spectrum of electronic and acoustic compositions, and is a collection of his own personal music at this time, absorbing influences from acoustic jazz/beat music and everything from his work with Brad Meldor and David Bowie. This solo album reflects all the influences he has absorbed at this point in his career, including acoustic jazz/beat music and his work with Brad Meldreau and David Bowie.He plays drums, cymbals, percussion, piano, vibraphone, marimba, celesta, pump organ, mellotron, synth (Jupiter-8), and spoken word, all by himself, creating a cool, precise, yet unified and pleasant soundscape. Like "The Sound of Listening," the album has a singer/songwriter instrumental tone and a lot of mindfulness, especially in the piano pieces, which have a more cinematic sound with more depth. The programming and beat-music songs are also multilayered, but with a strong monotone flavor, and this album shows that Mark Juliana is already standing on new ground.
