Dana Hughes, the popular blues rocker known for her roles in the film *Across the Universe* and the musical *Love Janis*, has released her latest work—a live album that truly showcases her talents! With her powerful vocals, she performs a set centered on original songs rooted in blues, R&B, and Southern rock, as well as covers of classics by Gil Scott-Heron and the Rolling Stones. This is a live recording, made without any special effects, of a show held in October 2025 at Godset in Kolding, Denmark. Dana Hughes is a female soul and rock singer born in New Jersey in 1976. She grew up in Florida and began singing as a member of a church gospel choir. At age 19, she moved to New York and formed a blues band. She performed alongside Taj Mahal and James Cotton at clubs in New York. She was later cast in the lead role of the popular Off-Broadway musical “Love Janis,” and further raised her profile by playing the role of Sadie—a character inspired by Janis—in the 2007 musical film “Across the Universe.” At the same time, she released her debut album, *Lonely for a Lifetime*, in 2003 and *Live in NYC* in 2008, causing the band’s popularity to skyrocket. In 2011, they signed with RUF and released their second album, *Love to Beg*, followed by their third album, *Bliss Avenue*, in 2013. Since then, they have performed at various festivals and events around the world, releasing the live album *Songs from the Road* in 2014 and the soul album *Love Lives On* in 2018. Their latest release is 2022’s *Borrowed Time*.
