This is a collection of the best singles from the early days of Johnny Copeland (Shemekiah's daughter), a talented bluesman who was called the "Texas Twister" for his strong vocals and sharp guitar playing. This is a valuable album of rare and hard-to-find singles from his Texas days (60s-70s), when he made his late album debut in the 80s and got his break. The album also includes a bonus live recording from 1993 and an unreleased demo from 1968. The album is a must-have for those who want to hear the rare vocals of the younger generation, which are not only rough but also soft R&B and rock'n'roll. Johnny Copeland, born in Louisiana in 1937, began playing guitar under the influence of T-Bone Walker, moved to Houston, Texas, and formed the Dukes of Rhythm, which made its first recording in 1956. In the 1960s, he consistently released songs such as "Please Let Me Know" on All Boy in 1962 and "Down On Bending Knees" on Golden Eagle in 1963.In 1976, he moved to New York City and signed with Rounder, and in 1981, his first album "Copeland Special" won the WC Handy Award, which brought him instant recognition. Since then, he has consistently released albums such as "Texas Twister" in 1984. In 1985, he released "Show Down!" with Albert Collins and Robert Cray, which won a Grammy. After his breakthrough, he toured the world and performed at various festivals, but died of heart disease in 1997 at the age of 60. His daughter is Shemekia Copeland.
