This is the last album and memorial to Willie J. Campbell, a longtime bassist who was at the heart of the West Coast blues scene with the James Herman Band, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and the Mannish Boys, and who won many Blues Music Awards. His last band, The Proven Ones (Kid Ramos, Brian Templeton, etc.), along with Kim Wilson, David Hidalgo, Jason Rich, Sugar Ray Rayford, Joe Louis Walker, and many others have gathered for him! Willie J. Campbell was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1957. He moved to California at a young age and played with his brother Scott in a rockabilly band called the Red Devils. In the 2000s, he joined Manish Bose and played with many artists.After the breakup, he formed The Proven Ones, a supergroup with Anthony Geraci and Brian Templeton, led by Kid Ramos (guitar), a long-time close friend and brother-in-law since the James Herman Band. The group released Wild Again (2018) and You Ain't Done (2020), which won numerous awards, including a Blues Music Award. However, in March 2022, he was diagnosed with ALS and died on December 18, 2022, after recording this album, at the age of 65 after a battle with the disease.
