The Jackson 5

Description:

Treasure Ark, a series that selects quality live recordings! Full recording of a live TV show in Mexico, the final date of the Moving Violation Tour, during the transition from the Jackson 5 to the Jacksons! Included is a TV show in Mexico, the final date of the tour for their last album as the Jackson 5, "Moving Violation" (1975)! At this time, the group was going low across the board, despite Michael's solo No. 1 hit "Ben" in 1972 and the big hit "Dancing Machine" reaching No. 2 the previous year in 1974. Furthermore, there was a royalty dispute with Motown, and in June 1975, while on tour, he moved to CBS. At that time, the name was changed to The Jacksons, as Motown had the rights to the Jackson 5 name. In addition, Jermaine, who had first followed Michael as a solo artist, was to remain with Motown due to his marriage to Berry Gordy's daughter, Hazel, and left the group midway through the tour. His youngest brother, Randy, joined the group in his place. After about six months of touring with that lineup, this is the show. The touring band was in charge of the performance (only the string section was provided by the broadcaster?), and although it was a TV show, the setlist and performance could be considered to be almost the same as on the tour. About half of the songs performed were from recent albums, and in addition to the big hits from the early days, Michael performed five solo songs, balancing the sales aspect and the musical aspect of the group. The family-oriented feel of the show is also enjoyable, with Randy introducing the members in a flirtatious manner as if taking over from Michael in the middle of the show, and Michael introducing LaToya, her youngest sister Janet, and her mother Kathryn in the MC. It is also rare to hear Tito play the blues on his guitar solo. Michael was only 17 years old at this time, but he was already an adult. This is a collection of mainstream soul shows from this era.
