Mime Sketch" is the long-awaited fifth solo album by Kyoto-based sound artist/percussionist/alaymbira player, Kohei Kita, after a three-year absence! The album features the rhythmic sense and unique expressiveness of a rare talent. The endlessly expanding ambient space that makes full use of the rare instrument "alembira," a rare instrument in the world, and the artistic worldview woven with textures that are picturesque, fragile, and beautiful are a must-listen! Soundscapes born from quiet introspection seem to descend into the darkness of the mind, and then softly float far up into the sky. What should have been a very personal experience soon transcends the distinction between "self" and "someone else," and continues to freely connect and expand. All of the sounds, carefully selected with a focus on the rare instrument array mbira, become delicate particles that permeate and stretch out the wrinkles in our shrinking hearts. This album also features two guest compositions by Mamiko Hirai, a pianist and musician with an outstanding ability to bring music to life, who has composed music for many movies, commercials, and TV programs. Her performance is like that of a dancer who explodes with pure unrestrained and sometimes quiet passion, adding color to this work along with the chirps of the three birds that live with her.As with all of his solo works, mastering was done by world-renowned ambient artist Chihei Hatakeyama, and Nahoko Takayama of coconoe continued to participate in the chorus and in devising the titles of all the songs. The cover artwork was designed by Kohei Kita himself to evoke the sound image more deeply.
