The album follows "soil" (2018) and "DEACON" (2021) by serpent, who was also featured on Bjork's Grammy-nominated album "Fossora" (2022). GRIP follows the serpent's theatrical debut, Heart of Brick, which runs through November 1.This dance-theater production depicts a touching love story that takes place in a black gay club, featuring performances by a stellar cast of dancers and music from serpent's "GRIP". GRIP" and black gay clubs have some interesting similarities. The club is public, and the dance floor is obviously a place where people look at each other and observe each other. At the same time, the black gay club is a safe community space, it is for us, and in that sense it is very private and intimate. The club offered a different atmosphere, a different comfort, a different sense of welcome for the serpent, nurturing him in new ways.
