Description:
There are only a few spinets made by the famous British spinet maker Thomas Hitchcock still in existence, but one of them is in the collection of the Telemann Museum in Hamburg, and it is thought that it was probably played by Telemann himself. The Hitchcock spinet used in this performance is the very same Hitchcock spinet. This CD contains solo pieces and trios by composers of the same or slightly later generation as Telemann. The works of Charles Burney (1726-1814), whose works have recently been translated into Japanese and are attracting a lot of attention, are rare. The Hitchcock spinet sounds very beautiful, and it is captured in an excellent recording (made at St. Anscher's Church in Hamburg). Of course, Anneke Dennert brings out the best of the instrument. She has already released two CDs on GENUIN (GEN 16411 and GEN 17462). Simone Eckert is one of Germany's leading viola da gamba players. Gabriele Steinfeldt is a violinist who plays in numerous period orchestras. Tobu Land System
