Description:

The fifth installment of the Schumann series by Holliger and the WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne features the prodigious Kopatchinskaja, following the fourth concerto orchestral cycle with solo instruments! The WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, conducted by Holliger, is currently recording Schumann's symphonies, concertos, and overtures for the Audite label in Germany. The fifth volume is a collection of concerto orchestral works with solo instruments, including an Introduction and Concerto Allegro for piano and strings, a Fantasy for violin, an Introduction and Allegro appassionato, and a small concerto for four horns and orchestra. The concerto includes some rarely performed pieces, but with soloists such as Kopatchinskaja and other attractive performers, the concerto is a must-attend. Kopatchinskaja, one of the world's most sought-after violinists, was born in Moldova to a father who was a master cimbalonist and a mother who was a violinist. After studying violin and composition in Vienna and Bern, she won the first prize at the Schelling International Competition in 2000 and the "Credit Suisse Group Young Artist Award" in 2002. He has performed with world-renowned orchestras under world-renowned conductors such as Jansons, Norrington, P. Järvi, and Nelsons. He also has a deep knowledge of chamber music, and his duo with Fazil Sai, in particular, captivates audiences with the music that emerges from their strong personalities. Their unique and distinctive approach to music has made them popular not only in the classical music world but also among music fans as a rare presence. The Fantasy for Violin was written in 1853, the last year of Schumann's creative period. It is said that Schumann conducted Joachim in the first performance, and that Joachim, to whom the work was dedicated, greatly admired the work. Kopatchinskaja's thrilling performance with the WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne led by Holliger will bring you a new fascination. In addition, the pianist Ron Quigg, who specializes in German works, plays solo in the Introduction and Concerto Allegro, the Introduction and Allegro Appassionato, and a small concerto for four horns and orchestra played by members of the WDR, including the world-renowned horn player Zelm. You can listen to these works. This series by Holliger & the WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne has been presented in the following volumes: Symphonies No. 1 "Spring", No. 4 (1841 version), Overture, Scherzo and Finale (AU97677), No. 2 and No. 3 "Rhine" (AU97678), No. 3 "Cello Concerto, Symphony No. 4 (1851), Symphony No. 5 (1852), and Symphony No. 6 "Rhapsody on the Rhine" (AU97678).
