Description:

Dvorak (1841-1904) by the Benevitz String Quartet, which won the first prize at the 5th Osaka Chamber Music Competition held in 2005 and again visited Japan in 2009, attracting the attention of Japanese audiences. The ensemble is named after Antonin Benevitz, a violinist who served as the first principal of the Prague Conservatory, and they continue that long tradition by performing Czech works with great vigor and conviction. The album includes two string quartets from Dvořák's mature period, the Slavic-tinged No. 10 and the refreshingly fresh No. 13, which seems to have blown something out of the water, are a fitting selection for the ensemble's current state.
