Ida Haendel's concerto recordings of Khachaturian & Bartók played by Ida Haendel are reissued one after another from the original master tapes of the SWR archive. Following Brahms & Mendelssohn (94.202) and Tchaikovsky & Dvořák (94.205), this third release couples two of the most famous violin concerto masterpieces of the 20th century, Khachaturian (1940) and Bartók (1937-1938), written at about the same time. The third release of the series is a coupling of two of the most important violin concerto masterpieces of the 20th century, written at about the same time by Khachaturian (1940) and Bartók (1937-1938).Both works were still very real contemporaries for Handel, who was born in 1928, studied under Carl Flesch and Georges Enescu, and was very active in his 20s after World War II. As the fact that Handel also premiered works by Luigi Dallapiccola and Alain Petachon shows, this is a valuable document of Handel's deep interest in and knowledge of the works of his contemporaries. As in previous releases, the orchestra, led by Handel's good partner Kreis, is also very good. King International
