SOUL SUGAR was started in the late 2000s by renowned organist and producer GUILLAUME METENIER as a place to update the soul jazz and Hammond funk of the 60s and 70s. This time, he reimagines Curtis Mayfield's "MAKING OF YOU" as a languid roots reggae song, featuring Carmichael's vocals. Donald Byrd's "BLACKBYRD" was produced in the image of a fusion of Studio One dub and Black Sploitation funk. The original songs as well as the covers are great, and all have groove arrangements that will stick with rock, soul, and black music lovers, making this a high quality album. Limited pressing.
