(CD) Digipak specification Deborah Nemtam, the younger sister of Sarah Nemtanu and a disciple of Gérard Poullet, takes on the challenge of performing Eastern European music. It is also notable for its collaboration with the much talked-about Pocket Symphony Orchestra. The theme of the Forgeurne Festival 2023/4 is "Origin," and for Nemtanu, who has Romanian origins, these music is truly in his blood. Polumbescu's "The Ballad of the Homeland," known for Atsuko Amma's performance, is accompanied only by the accordion of the arranger Cusak, but it was an immersive experience that was not half bad. The other pieces all feature folkloric colors like those of a Roma orchestra, and the sense of ancestry in Bartok's "Rhapsody" and Sarasate's "Zigoinelwaizen" is surprising. The Pocket Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble founded in 2013 by conductor Nicolas Simon. Consisting of two violins, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone, accordion, harp, and percussion, the orchestra is noted for its expressive and lively performances.
