The group, which won the grand prize at the 2022 Recording Academy Awards for their astonishingly soft-sounding "Matthew Passion," has come up with another Monteverdi with an unprecedentedly superb sound. From the fanfare at the beginning of the piece, we are surprised by the soft sound that overturns our preconceived notions of the work. Monteverdi's "Evening Prayer of the Blessed Virgin Mary" is positioned as an anthology of Vespers pieces composed uniquely for various occasions and available to musicians in both "church and royal" chapels, and Pichon is not the first to suggest that the "Gloria" piece is a fitting conclusion to the whole. Pichon considers it to be a work in its entirety, with the piece "Gloria" being thrown in for good measure as a fitting conclusion to the whole. Pichon then re-reads the text of the work from the perspective of the whole as a single work, pursuing harmonies and expressions appropriate to the words and scenes.It reveals the true nature of the work as conceived by Monteverdi, and at the same time, it brings out to the fullest extent the unique theatricality of the work.
