To commemorate New Zealand soprano Kiri Te Kanawa's 80th birthday on March 6, 2024, we are releasing all of her recital recordings for Decca and Philips. This 23-CD box set also includes excerpts from his complete religious music and opera recordings for these labels and Deutsche Grammophon. Limited edition. Kiri Te Kanawa specializes in Mozart and Richard Strauss. The range of her operatic repertoire is extensive, including major operas by Puccini, Verdi's Verismo, R. Strauss and Johann Strauss II, as well as a recording of John Gay's star-studded Beggar's Opera, on two discs, Songs of Auvergne under the direction of Jeffrey Tate, Kiri te Kanawa's warm, rich singing beautifully conveys the essence of the folk songs of Canteloube, as if they were written just for her. She is joined by pianist Roger Vignoles for a recital of music from Purcell to Obradors. Three albums of religious music, one with the St. Paul's Cathedral Choir and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, another with excerpts from religious music that Kiri Te Kanawa has done throughout her career ("The Matthew Passion," "Messiah," and "Requiem" by Fauré and Brahms), and another with Nelson The repertoire extends to excerpts from the religious music of his career ("Matthew Passion," "Messiah," "Requiem" by Fauré and Brahms), as well as lighter fare with Nelson Riddle and Andre Previn, and concludes with Christmas.
