In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Sanson-François's death, we are pleased to present a new complete collection of his works, with additional recordings of first-time recordings. A brilliant and inspired pianist who specialized in the music of Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel, he played with both French clarity and the immediacy and spontaneity of his instrument. He was a charismatic, sometimes provocative, and passionate pianist who earned his stripes, especially in France and Japan. Chopin's works also stand out, and the contours of the melody were always François' priority. A genius for whom the word "decadence" was apt, François loved drinking, smoking, and jazz, and died at the young age of 46 at the end of an unhealthy lifestyle. One of the recordings has already been released on Weitblick, recorded live at the Nissay Theatre in 1969. The second CD was recorded live at the Nohant Festival in central France in June 1970 (4 months before his death). The venue has a special connection with his beloved Chopin. Nohant was the country home of Chopin's lover, Georges Sand.This is the long-awaited world premiere of François' second-to-last live recital. Written by François' son, Maximilian Sanson François, and directed by Christian Julier with the support of Claudie François, the documentary will be available on DVD for the first time.
