Following "Overtures from the British Isles," the new series "British Sound Poems" has begun! Ramon Gamba, one of the core conductors of Chandos, has made a name for himself with his recordings of the Chandos Moveis and other unknown orchestral works by Vincent d'Indy, Miklos Rosa, Malcolm Williamson, and others. Following the much-talked-about "Overtures from the British Isles (Vol. 1 CHAN 10797/Vol. 2 CHAN 10898)," which introduced unknown orchestral works from Great Britain and Ireland, a new series, "British Tone Poems," has begun! The first volume includes unique and unknown orchestral works from the early 20th century, from Vaughan Williams and Olwyn to Bantock, Gurney, and Gardiner.Iver Gurney's mysterious "Gloucestershire Rhapsody" was composed around 1919-1921, but was finally premiered in 2010. Also, this album is the world premiere recording of "Berkshire Idylls" by Henry Balfour Gardiner, the great-uncle of John Eliot Gardiner. Tokyo M-Plus
