Description:

Earl Sweatshirt, a rapper from Los Angeles, continues to attract attention as a "generation-reppening talent" in the rich soil of California, where various cultural movements were born and hip-hop sprouted. After long rumored as a "mysterious album" and a surprise streaming release this summer, "VOIR DIRE", a collaboration with producer The Alchemist, is now finally available on CD! Here is the present of a genius who has awakened to the next level! Earl Sweatshirt is a rapper from Los Angeles who has been active as a member of the alternative hip-hop crew ODD FUTURE, and is now attracting attention as a solo artist as a "generation-reppening talent". Born and raised in the rich soil of California, the birthplace of various cultural movements and the birthplace of hip-hop, to a South African poet and political activist father, Keoraptse Kgositsile, and a University of California law professor, Cheryl Harris, Earl began his career as a rapper in 2008. He began his career as a rapper around 2008.He first went by the name Sly Tendencies, but started calling himself Earl Sweatshirt when he was invited by Tyler the Creator to join ODD FUTURE. The then 16-year-old first came to the attention of the scene with the release of "Earl," which was produced by Tyler the Creator and Left Brain and dropped in 2010. Shortly after its release, however, he briefly disappeared from the scene. According to a later interview, he had taken a temporary hiatus from music because his mother had placed him in a Samoan boarding school for youth because of "bad influences from his friends. Upon his return from Samoa, he resumed his music career and was signed to Columbia at the age of 18. 2013 saw the release of his major label debut, "DORIS," which debuted at #1 on the U.S. Rap Albums Chart and #5 on the U.S. Albums Chart. He continued the same year with a second album, I DON'T LIKE SHIT, I DON'T GO OUTSIDE, followed by a three-year hiatus and the release of his third album, SOME RAP SONGS, in 2018. The abstract work, which was strongly influenced by the passing of his father during its production, was highly praised by media outlets such as Pitchfork, The Wallstreet Journal, GQ, and The New York Times for his originality and deep worldview as a lyricist, as well as his sometimes seemingly experimental production. Pitchfork, The Wallstreet Journal, GQ, and The New York Times. (1/2)
