Death Cab For Cutie

Description:

The White Stage at this year's Fuji Rock Festival. Despite the pouring rain, Death Cab for Cutie, one of the most important indie rock acts in the U.S., captivated the audience with a great set list that mixed the old and the new. The band has been reborn as a new 5-piece band since their last album "Thank You for Today," and their live performance at the Fuji Rock Festival was a perfect example of the ambient sound space of their early sound and the minimal yet clear and expansive sound of their later period. The band's performance at the Fuji Rock Festival was truly captivating and inspiring, creating a top-notch live space that was truly divine. 8-time Grammy nominees Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGarr, and Dave Depper, all of whom have the stature of iconic indie rock acts of our time, were on hand to perform their newest album, "The Last of Us," which was released in March 2012, The Death Cab for Cutie, consisting of Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGarr, Dave Depper, and Zach Rey, is back with their first studio album in almost a year. This latest EP, "THE BLUE EP," contains five songs. Information about the EP was released on July 30, after the Fuji Rock event, and the latest song from the EP, "Kids in '99," was released at the same time. The song, with its striking drum and guitar melody and beautiful, fragile melody line by Ben, is about three young boys who lost their lives in the Olympic Pipeline explosion in Bellingham, Washington in 1999. Ben commented on the song, saying, "I'm so sorry about the Olympic Pipeline explosion in 1999. The Olympic Pipeline disaster in 1999 was a great tragedy, and those of us who were in Bellingham at the time were greatly affected by it. We were in Bellingham at the time and we were very affected by it, and after so many years, we decided that we should leave the fact that this tragedy happened in the form of a song. The EP also includes "THAN" and "Kids in '99," both of which were produced by Peeta Katsis, who has worked with The National and Interpol. The EP also includes "To The Ground" and "Before The Bombs" (produced by Rich Costi, as on the album), which were recorded during the making of "Thank You For Today," and the self-produced "Man in Blue. The album contains a total of five songs.Death Cab for Cutie continues to perform worldwide with the presence of an indie rock act that symbolizes the times, and the number of people who are captivated by their brilliant sound is sure to continue to grow.
