For this album, Bach's works that would have originally been composed for keyboard were chosen, and each part is performed by these three musicians. The three performers play each part as written by Bach, not as arranged. Yo-Yo Ma's flawless technique and superb singing melodies are breathtaking. Bluegrass mandolinist Chris Cirri's performance on the flat mandolin also amazes me that this is really a performance by a popular music player. The fingering and picking are well thought out, with every nerve in every nook and cranny, and the rhythms are perfectly executed without a single moment of disruption. He also supports the bass part, which is the most important part of Mayer's Bach music, beautifully. Warner Music Japan
