A tribute to the Estonian folk song collector Krek. A collection of religious works from the Baltic countries! This album is a tribute to Kirilus Krek (1889-1962), a composer and folk song collector active in the first half of the 20th century and known as the Estonian Bartok or Grager. The album features "Krek's Music Book" consisting of eight pieces composed by Tonu Kollwitz (1969-) of Estonia, and works by Arturs Maskats (1957-) and Peteris Prakidis (1947-) of Latvia. The "present" of Baltic religious music is presented by the Royal Holloway Choir, specialists in Baltic choral works, whose performances of Doubla (CDA 67799) and Myshkinis (CDA 67818) have been highly acclaimed.
