Daniel Hope was born in Durban, South Africa, in 1974. His mother was Yehudi Menuhin's secretary, and at the age of 11 he was invited by Menuhin to perform with him in a Bartók duo on German television. In 2016, the program commemorating the 100th anniversary of Menuhin's birth will include works that are all filled with memories of Menuhin. The program assembled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Menuhin's birth in 2016 includes works that are all filled with memories of him. The piece from "Bartók: 44 Violin Duets" is a duet with Daniel Rozakowicz, the brilliant 14-year-old violinist who won the junior division of the 2015 Menuhin Competition.In keeping with Menuhin's deep love of Gypsy music, works in the Gypsy style were also selected, with Avi Avital on mandolin as a guest. The works are skillfully selected in a variety of styles, and Daniel Hope's polished violin tone captivates the audience. Universal Music/IMS
