The story follows Jun Naruse, a young girl whose family was torn apart by the words she casually uttered as a child. Then, an "egg fairy" appears out of the blue and seals her speech so that she will never hurt anyone again. Since then, she has been traumatized and closed-minded, and her only means of communication is through cell phone e-mails. One day in her second year of high school, Jun is appointed by her homeroom teacher to be a member of the executive committee for the "Community Friendship Exchange Party. Appointed with him are three classmates with whom he has no contact at all. Takumi Sakagami, an unmotivated boy who never speaks his mind, Daiki Tasaki, a former ace who was expected to play in the Koshien (the Japanese national baseball tournament) but suffered a broken elbow, and Natsuki Nito, an honor student on the cheerleading squad who is struggling with love. Each of them has their own emotional scars. They want to shout out their honest feelings, which have been locked up in the shell of their hearts. The homeroom teacher decides on a musical as the program for the social event, but no one in the class seems to be interested in it. Takumi, however, is the only one who notices Jun's feelings and asks, "Do you maybe want to sing? But he is unable to say so. The others are in trouble, saying that a woman who doesn't talk much can't possibly do a musical. Seeing her own fault, Jun couldn't help but say aloud, "I'm going to sing! She said out loud, "I'll sing! On the day of the performance, Jun, who was supposed to have decided to sing about her true feelings that she had locked away in her heart....
