Description:
The latest release in 12 years by African Head Charge, the legendary project of On-U Sound, the percussion wizard Bonjo and UK dub general Adrian Sherwood. !!!!" I think we've done our best ever with this album" - Adrian SherwoodAfrican Head Charge, the legendary project of On-U Sound, formed by percussionist Bonjo Ayabingi Noah and producer Adrian Sherwood, known as a UK dub pioneer, is the latest release in 12 years by African Head Charge, the legendary project of On-U Sound. African Head Charge returns to On-U Sound with their first new album in 12 years! The album, entitled "Trip To Bolgatanga," was recorded under the direction of founding member Bonjo Ayabingi Noah, with Adrian Sherwood, a close friend and co-driver of the group, once again at the helm. Regarding the large gap between albums, Bonjo states, "Twelve years has passed. During the twelve years that passed, I was in Ghana spending time with my family, but I continued to create.I am sure you can understand that I still have a lot of things I need to ask of the world. During this period in my life, I wanted to work, but I also wanted to spend time with my family. I spent every day joyfully and devoted myself to creating. The sound of this album brings back memories of African Head Charge's classic albums such as "My Life In A Hole In The Ground" and "Songs Of Praise". While the sound of the new album certainly brings to mind the classic works of African Head Charge, such as "My Life In A Hole In The Ground" and "Songs Of Praise," it would be a mistake to assume that their music has already stopped evolving. The percussionist continues. It takes time to be able to play the drums or sing the chants that they chant. I have traveled all over Ghana to meet with drummers. Every tribe, from Fante to Akim to Gar to Bolgatanga, has its own distinct drumming culture. I try to learn as much as I can and combine it into one form. This is similar to cooking. When you mix all the ingredients, say yams (yams), bananas, and squash, the final seasoning you put on it is crucial. That's how I see music. You can take all these different elements and taste them and say, 'Okay, this is a good seasoning, this is a good sound. I like it, this sounds good. That's what African Head Charge is all about. I explore every possible combination, and if I bring it to Adrian, he will help me to create something new and better.
