The Czech Ensemble Baroque, a renowned group actively engaged in performing and making world premiere recordings of his works, has released a new CD.Tuma was known as one of Fuchs's most distinguished pupils, along with Zelenka and Mufat, and was on par with the political and social elite of the time. In Vienna, Tuma's works were highly regarded as models for the younger composers of the time, including Haydn and Mozart. This album focuses on his later works and includes one of the eight surviving pieces from Tuma's famous medieval serial work "Stabat Mater. It also includes instrumental pieces that incorporate elements of the modern Gallant style while also incorporating techniques characteristic of Italian and French music. The C major "Overture" with its magnificent and sumptuous instrumentation, the D minor "Sinfonia" based on a Neapolitan opera's sinfonia, and the G minor "Partita" are just a few of the pieces that showcase Tuma's versatility.
