Hartmann, a 20th century German composer who continued to compose even under the regime of Nazi Germany, wrote the Funeral Concerto in 1939 with intense anger and deep sorrow at the rise of the Nazis.Schubert's Rondo is one of the few concerto-like works that mixes a sizeable introduction with a variety of melodies typical of Schubert. Technical perfection is a prerequisite for the performance, not to mention that the composers infuse the piece, which is their work, with life and expand the wings of their imagination.
