Founded in Israel with five male voices as its main members who trace the evolution of madrigale, Profeti della Quinta is active in Switzerland as of 2018, performing a repertoire of vocal music from the 16th and 17th centuries, with instrumentalists added as needed. Leader Elam Rotem is a harpsichordist and composer. Madrigale is a polyphonic piece that developed in Italy during the Renaissance. It was based on high compositional techniques such as imitation and chromatic scales, and had a great influence on the development of music history as a whole, leading to the Baroque period. Focusing on the 50 years from De Lore to Monteverdi around 1600, the CD arranges the madrigale in the order of composition, allowing the listener to experience the evolution of the sound of each composer.
