This guitar album is dedicated to Steve Reich, the great master of contemporary & minimal music, who celebrated his 85th birthday on October 3, 2021. The lineup combines his masterpiece "Electric Counterpoint" premiered by Pat Metheny, as well as guitar transcription works from Nagoya Marimbaz and Violin Phase, a program that has been verified by Steve Reich himself. (The clapping music is played with handclaps only, as in the original.) Pierre Bibeau is a French multi-faceted guitarist who is versatile on both classical and electric guitars. He is an adjunct musician (classical and electric guitar) in the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, a permanent member of the Ensemble Variances founded by Thierry Pecoux, and an artistic director of the International Guitar Festival in Béarn (France). He is the artistic director of the International Guitar Festival in Béarn, France.He explores contemporary music dealing with guitar, samplers, loopers, and computers, and contemporary composers such as Zad Murtaka, Thierry Pecoux, and Jeffrey Holmes have dedicated guitar works to him.
