Revival of Italian Style by a Viennese Composer with Italian Roots Active in the first half of the 20th century, Ferdinand Levay [1880-1953] is a Viennese composer in the traditional style who left behind 756 works. He has been attracting more attention since 2004, when his copyright expired, and since 2009 he has started releasing CDs, and Brilliant Classics has already produced five guitar-related albums. Ferdinand Levay, who has been a choral conductor for 16 years and a professor at the Academy of Music in Vienna for 18 years, has also written many guitar-related works inspired by his colleague and guitar professor at the Academy of Music in Vienna, Jacob Ortner. This album is a collection of all his "works for violin and guitar," including two sonatas, suites, variations, and small pieces. It also includes 42 minutes of arranged works. The performances are by the Italian duo of Piercarlo Sacco and Andrea Dieci, who also played together in a pleasant duo on the albums of Giuliani's works for violin and guitar and Piazzolla's "92nd Street" and "Cafe 1930".
