A famous pianist who supported British Columbia in the 1920s. Although he was one of the leading recording artists for UK Columbia in the 1920s, his name and performances are still unknown to most people today. The complete solo recordings made by this unknown Australian pianist for Columbia in the early days of electric recording have been remastered by the label's well-known engineer, Andrew Halifax, and reissued by APR, a British company that continues to unearth rare piano recordings! Murdoch, who was active mainly as a soloist and chamber musician, participated in the premieres of Elgar's Violin Sonata and Piano Quintet, but also recorded Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3" with the Hamilton Harty & Halle Orchestra in 1925, and was a pianist with a wide repertoire. In 1925, he recorded Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3" with Hamilton Harty & Halle Orchestra.Also part of Murdoch's legacy, the 1928 "Daily Express National Piano Playing Competition" assignment collection (10 pieces in all) is not only extremely valuable but also a rare repertoire that piano enthusiasts must hear!
