The first song cycle by the composer of Italian opera at the age of 12, "Butterfly," was written in just over 34 years of his life, and he wrote 12 operas. The 15 songs in this collection not only appeal sensitively to listeners with their intensely sweet melodies and gorgeous ornaments, but are also indispensable teaching materials for performers to improve their musicianship and technique.
