The mixing and engineering was done by multiple Grammy Award winner Paul Hicks. The songs were newly transferred from the original multi-tracks, remixed, and cleaned up to the highest sound quality. ■The album title, "Gimme Some Truth." is a reference to his 1971 song "I Want the Truth," which was a scathing indictment of political deception, hypocrisy, and war, and it is still relevant in this age of fake news and uncertainty about what is the truth. ■ The photo on the album cover is a rare black and white photo of John in profile, taken on the day he went to return the MBE medal, which is unusual for him. The album cover, CD and LP booklet, and text artwork are by Jonathan Barnbrook, who has done album covers for David Bowie's "Heezan," "Reality," and "The Next Day" and won a Grammy for the packaging of Bowie's "Blackstar.
