A combination of two of Furtwängler & BPO's last masterpieces, Brahms' Symphony No. 3 + Beethoven's "Leonore" Overture No. 2!2-track, 38 cm, open-reel tape reissue series■ From the ProducerFor the second time since GS-2184 (released [out of print] in 2018), Brahms is This is the second appearance. This time again, we did not use the old source material all over again, but brought the tapes to a recording studio and remastered the entire process with professional equipment to renew the sound quality. We are proud to say that this is without a doubt the best sound quality ever. The sound is dry, but the overall balance and clarity are far superior to the 1949 live performance at the same venue, and fans will not be disappointed. The "Leonore" Overture No. 2 makes its first appearance in this series. As with Brahms, the overture to "Leonore" No. 2 is the first appearance in this series, and as with Brahms, it offers the mature sound of Furtwängler and the Berlin Philharmonic in their last years. *Caution: In the "Leonore" Overture No. 2, ghosting is noticeable, especially in the long intervals. This is one of the common deterioration phenomena that often occur in old tapes, however, such correction has been kept to the minimum necessary for this disc, as it will adversely affect the sound quality if it is too aggressively removed during mastering.
