For her first solo album on the BIS label, she has chosen Purcell, a composer whose music so captivated her at the 2021 Festival of Ancient Music in London that she has made it a regular part of her recital program ever since.The program is a collection of the best of Purcell's songs, from well-known songs such as "Music for a Moment" and "If Music Be the Bread of Love," to rarely performed songs, interspersed with songs by John Eccles, one of the leading composers of dramatic music in England, and Daniel Purcell, Purcell's own son; the divisions of Christopher Simpson, a master violist; and a ground for harpsichord solo by John Blow, Purcell's teacher and friend. The album is completed by interspersing divisions by Christopher Simpson, who was a master of the viol, and a ground for harpsichord solo by John Blow, a teacher and friend of Purcell. The beautiful music of Purcell is sung delicately and brilliantly with a calm voice that is both clear and colorful, over passages by Jonathan Munson, William Carter, and Julian Perkins, all of whom are masters of English ancient music.
