In his later years, Scatman Closers played supporting roles in films such as "The Shining" and "On the Cuckoo's Nest" or TV dramas such as "Starsky & Hutch". Contrary to the title, there is little rock and roll in this disc, and it is chock-full of the latest type of jump and jive, updated in light of the evolution of jazz in the 1950s. The old standards are performed with a humorous croak and skilled delivery in a personable manner. Highlights include the explosive grooves of "I Got Rhythm" and "Exactly Like You.
