The "revival" live performance of Klemperer + Vienna Philharmonic at ...... in the best sound quality ever! The combination of Klemperer and the Vienna Philharmonic continues to make an impact even today, even though they did not perform together very often. The reason why this performance of "Resurrection" has not attracted much attention may be because of the dissatisfaction with the sound quality of the previously released recordings. This release is mastered from new sources. The sound quality is genuine mono, and the drop-outs have been corrected as much as possible to make it very easy to listen to. The performance is right in the middle of the ultra-heavy performance of his last years and the ultra-dry and fast performance of his prime years. The emphasis on woodwinds is characteristic of Klemperer, and the Vienna Philharmonic's luscious wind sounds are brilliant. The Vienna Musikverein Chorus, which was one of Klemperer's favorite ensembles to perform with chorus in Vienna, provides a magnificent performance. The famous Viennese soprano Leslie Maidan, a favorite of Karajan, sings alto. Klemperer was also a great favorite of Maidan's and often used her in his performances of "Resurrection". She has also participated in session recordings with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
