A progressive rock band formed in London in 1968, centered around Chris Squire and John Anderson. They spearheaded the progressive rock boom of the 1970s, produced numerous classic albums, and—alongside Pink Floyd, King Crimson, EL&P, and Genesis—are known as one of the “Big Five” progressive rock bands, leaving a lasting legacy in rock history. This album marks their 24th studio release, coming three years and one month after 2023’s *Mirror to the Sky*. It is a project featuring an ironclad eight-member lineup consisting of the five members of Yes, along with engineer Curtis Schwartz, orchestral arranger Paul K. Joyce, and artwork designer Roger Dean. Compared to the previous two albums, this release makes full use of material contributed by each member, resulting in a sound that is more balanced as a group rather than dominated by Steve Howe’s style. The four-movement suite “Countermovement,” clocking in at over 13 minutes, is a highlight track well worth listening to. Steve Howe returns as producer from the previous album. (C)RS
