Arturo Toscanini left an enormous mark on the history of 20th century music. In the first half of his life, he performed mainly in European and American opera houses, and in the second half of his life, as a concert conductor, he performed a wide range of repertoire at an extremely high standard. The NBC Symphony Orchestra from 1937 is one of the earliest successful examples of media mixing in the art of music. The CD will be reissued in analog LP jacket design. The CD includes three Haydn performances by Toscanini after World War II. Astonishment" was recorded in 1953. In "Clock," the first re-recording since the famous SP recording with the New York Philharmonic, the theme is sung with exquisite elegance over a solidly engraved rhythm in the second movement. The performance is full of the charm of Toscanini's ability to make the music sing with richness, based on a rigorous formative structure.
