A tribute to legendary guitarist Matt "Guitar" Murphy, who sadly passed away in 2018! Although he is best known as a member of the Blues Brothers, he actually played on countless albums. This album features 72 musicians, old and new, including Steve Cropper, Joe Beard, Billy Boy Arnold, Doyle Bramhall II, Ronnie Earle, Chuck Leavell, Bob Margolin, Lee Oscar, Jerry Portnoy, and many more! Three previously unreleased tracks recorded by Murphy before his death are also included. Matt "Guitar" Murphy, born in Mississippi in 1929 and raised in Memphis, moved to Chicago in 1948 to play and record with Howlin' Wolf, Little Junior Parker, and Ike Turner. In the 1960s, he played with Chuck Berry, Koko Taylor, Sunny Boy Williamson II, Buddy Guy, Etta James, Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, and many others. In the 70's, he was the leader of the ironclad James Cotton Band and played on the funk-blues classic "100% Cotton" and others.In the 1980s, he appeared in films and toured as a member of the Blues Brothers, a career that continued into the 2000s. As a solo artist, though not much, he left behind "Way Down South" in 1990, "The Blues Don't Bother Me!" in 1996, and "Lucky Charm" in 2000. He passed away on June 15, 2018 at the age of 88 due to a heart attack.
