Maki Kurihara moved to Paris at the age of 15, and has won top prizes in numerous competitions in Japan and abroad. Her third album is mainly Tchaikovsky arranged by Pletnyov. When she performs a work, Kurihara says that she pays attention to the "colors" that it contains: she imagines Christmas colors of red and gold for "The Nutcracker" and white for snow, and silver and black for "The Sleeping Beauty.
