Masato Kumoi, who is active worldwide as a leading classical saxophonist, has recorded three works by David Maslanka, an American composer whom he admires. Maslanka's world, which eschews florid and technical styles and pursues the depth of music through simple and profound sounds, is beautifully expressed through the message from his works with a stoic attitude. For this album as well, Kumoi kept in contact with Maslanka to deepen the interpretation of his works, but unfortunately, Maslanka passed away in August 2017, before this album was completed. This memorial album is dedicated to Maslanka lovers in Japan and around the world. (C)RS
