Staatskapelle Dresden principal Zabine Kittel takes on the challenge! Bach's complete unaccompanied cello suites for flute solo! There are several discs of Bach's Suites for unaccompanied cello performed by instruments other than the cello, including one for saxophone. There are also some flute recordings, but very few of them are complete works, which is a great achievement. The most important thing is the problem of phrasing (in other words, breath control), which requires a high level of technique and musicality. The German flutist Zabine Kittel attempted this feat. She studied under Aurel Nicolet and served as principal of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra from 1992 to 2000, and has held the position of principal with the Staatskapelle Dresden since then. He has a close relationship with Japan, and has been a long-time favorite of Miramatsu flutes, which he uses on this disc. After the Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, there is the Partita BWV 1013, a masterpiece for unaccompanied flute, and this disc is a must for flute fans and related people. Tobu Land System
