Description:
The legendary NO WAVE, the most important band in the history of Japanese avant-garde music, JUKE/19, is currently holding its first large-scale solo exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo since the "Zen-kei" exhibition. /The band was one of the first to respond to "NO NEW YORK" in a vivid way, and their sound, which advocated non-music and non-music that destroyed, avoided, and reconstructed established music theories and formats, is shocking even to today's ears. Between 1979 and 1982, Ohtake released a total of four LPs and one single, which collapsed after only two shows. After that, Shinro Ohtake began his career as an artist. The entire output was reissued once in a CD box set in the 1990s, and this is the first time that the band has been reissued independently. The fact that this band has not yet been reevaluated is a terrible loss for music and art in Japan. This is a project to reissue all the recordings of this rare band in analog form, jointly supervised by Manabu Yuasa and Enban. The entire collection has been intensely mastered for analog by Taku Unami, and all are presented in a special new binding. The liner is mainly a commentary by Manabu Yuasa, with a retrospective by Shinro Ohtake, writings written at the time, and re-recordings of the accompanying materials as much as possible. 1982 was the fourth JUKE/19. release, and the last work during the period when the band was active as a regular band. This work was produced under the concept that the members, who had seen the completion of their expression for the time being in the previous work "PIECES," dared to create "songs" using the "sound" created in "PIECES" and the methods they had used before that. The result is an album with an avant-rock feel that is closest to the later alternative, junk, sound. The record ends with a loop, just like the original version, and the world of JUKE/19. has to lift the needle with its own hands or the work will never end. This reissue of the album is the most "heavy" and luxurious in this series. The original design is broken down by color, and each color is silk-printed on a transparent board. Unlike previous JUKE/19. jackets, this one features a painting by Shinro Ohtake, making it a valuable addition to Ohtake's oeuvre.
