Description:
Ian Bostridge's collection of unknown Baroque arias, with a detailed presentation of the lyrics' underlying content, opera was born in Florence at the end of the Renaissance, developed in Venice during the Baroque period, and then moved to Naples. Even though there were many tragic operas, the genre of opera seria was established in the late Baroque period. The works recorded here are mainly from earlier tragic operas in Naples. Although Bostridge's many Romantic lieder and other works show a deep understanding of the lyrics behind the lyrics, he has long been interested in and challenged works from earlier periods, such as Monteverdi's "Orfeo," works by Handel and Bach, and albums for tail singers of the 18th century. He is also interested in and challenging works from other periods of time. While the contemporary perception of the "Italian tenor" is very much shaped by the operatic and performance practices of the 19th and early 20th centuries, Bostridge's work, such as the arias on this album, shows the tenor's important place in Italian opera from the mid-17th to mid-18th centuries and shows. This is considered to be a very similar relationship to that of the castrato period. It was at this time that the "center of gravity" of Italian opera shifted from its genre origins in Venice to Naples. The operas of the Neapolitan School of Music also became very influential during the 18th century, often attributing its foundation to the Sicilian-born Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725). Conductor Riccardo Muti, who studied much in Naples, said, "Mozart is certainly a genius, but without the Neapolitan school of music, it would not have been. He is a completely different genius". Bostridge has not recorded a solo album of baroque works in about 10 years, so he spent a lot of time in rehearsals with Antonio Florio, who has been pursuing the unknown baroque music of Naples, Italy, buried in history, in order to study the lyrics, the singing techniques and expressions of the time, and the music scores. The orchestra has been rehearsing for a long time with Antonio Florio, who has been pursuing the unknown and historically hidden Baroque music of Naples, Italy. Backed by Florio's period instrument ensemble "Capella Napolitana," this album traces the exploration and development of a new Neapolitan Baroque music. Warner Music Japan
