Hailed as the "god of the oboe," Holliger's colorful album features a fan-like spread of French music, with a focus on 20th-century works. Like the wings of a butterfly, the fan opens delicately and closes with a slight tremor, expressing the deepest emotions of the soul. Thanks to the poem "Eventail" by Stéphane Mallarmé and the wonderful music by Ravel and Debussy, the fan that opens fold by fold ("pris-slon pris") has become a symbol of the most hidden words, sounds, and colors of French music. The fact that the oboe is the closest to the human voice gave me the idea to open this fan, which is colored by French music, a little more from the still little-known "Etudes Vocalises" collection.This collection of literally 'songs without words' includes works by the most important French composers such as Fauré, Ravel, Poulenc, Honegger, Messiaen, Keclan, Saint-Saens, and Milhaud" (Heinz Holliger).
