Glenn Branca, a legendary musician who played in the important bands of the No Wave era such as The Theotical Girls and The Statics, has released his second album "ASCENSION" on 99 RECORDS in 1981 and is now being repressed on vinyl! The band consisted of four guitarists, NED SUBLETTE, DAVID ROSENBLOOM, and future SONIC YOUTH member LEE RANALDO, along with JEFFREY GLENN (BASS) and STEPHAN WISCHERTH (DRUM), and toured together in 1980 to record this album. The album is a masterpiece that combines avant-garde music and rock 'n' roll in the best possible way, including "THE SPECTACULAR COMMODITY," a disturbing drone reminiscent of TONY CONRAD, and "THE ASCENSION," with its no-wave primitive guitar and minimalist beat.
